Joy is the Lifestyle and Culture Columnist at The Houston Chronicle, author of “Ava and The Prince,” host of The Joy Hour, and founder of Year of Joy. Joy holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Houston and a master’s in business management from Webster University. She was a journalism fellow for issues surrounding Latin America and African Diaspora and Houston’s first professional black figure skating coach.
In 2016 she began her personal journey to live a more joy filled life that she named Year of Joy that later expanded to a 501(C)(3) with a mission to spread to joy to children form underserved communities. Joy was awarded the Houston Humanitarian Award in 2017 as part of Houston Random Acts of Kindness Day.
